How did you get to be 6 months old already? The time is seriously flying by! Luckily, I have been able to soak every moment in - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Somehow only the good makes it to my memory, so I just feel like life has been so wonderful since you have arrived. But there have definitely been some hard times. Here's even a picture of you crying:

Some really nice friends let us borrow their Jumparoo until their baby is old enough to use it. To say you love to jump might be an understatement... You really enjoy just bouncing and being able to see mom do whatever she needs to do. I especially love the faces you make when you are excited to jump!

You usually take 2 naps a day at least 1.5 hours each time. You go to bed around 9, sometimes 10 and wake up to eat at 4 (ugh) and wake up for the day at 7:30 or 8. We need to work on getting you to sleep earlier and to not wake up to eat at 4 every morning. We have been a lot better about setting a routine for bedtime, which is good, but we still need to be more consistent about what times you go to bed.
Your night time routine right now is to have jammie time with dad, read a book, have a little snack from mom, swaddle, and try to go to sleep in your crib. I have been reading the same book to you each time you go to bed, and you even have started to recognize the book (it's one of those touch and feel books).
Recently, your dad and I have been talking a lot about how we can help you (and eventually our other kids) to stay active in the church and to gain your own testimonies. We talked a lot about other families we admire and how we can raise you (and your siblings) to become faithful members of the LDS church. We decided that a huge part of what these families did (or must have done, we didn't actually talk to them), was just the little things each day - read the scriptures as a family, pray together, family home evenings, etc. Things that invite the spirit into the home so that the kids can have their own spiritual experiences and to learn the scriptures and about the gospel. After seeing how you have come to recognize the "touch and feel" book I read to you each time you go to bed, we decided that now might be a good time to start reading the scriptures together as a family. Obviously this is going to be a challenge, seeing as you have no idea what we are reading, but we want to start the habit early on. We want you to be able to recognize the scriptures and the important part they play in our daily life. We also decided that we have to use our actual scriptures and not our phones so you can associate the scriptures with actual books.
We live in a crazy time, Ellie. It's just going to keep getting crazier and crazier. It scares me to think of the challenges we will someday have to face as a family. But your Dad and I have faith that if we can instill in you at a young age the importance of scriptures, prayer, and the gospel, that you will hold true to these values despite what the world may teach. We also know that if we trust in our Heavenly Father and are obedient to His words found in the scriptures and through the mouth of the Prophet, that things will work out.

You are such a joy to our little family. The past 6 months have sped by and we have just loved every minute of it. Keep growing my sweet baby girl.
Love,
Mommy
